Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
About a month ago my boyfriend Steven and I went on a weekend get a way to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico where we stayed at the Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit.
Booking our trip
We booked our trip through a Travel Consultant at the Travel 100 group. Booking through a travel agent may seem more expensive but in fact it was a greater value and we got perks that we wouldn’t have gotten otherwise.
Some of these perks included:
- Round trip transportation to and from the hotel–saved us about $50 plus having to deal with exchanging currency.
- $100 massage credit per person
- Free bottle in your room usually Wine/champagne–we got tequila 😀
- Room upgrade (Subject to Availability)
One of my favorite parts of this trip was getting a free upgrade from our Ocean view suite ($600/night) to the Ambassador Class Suite ($1000+/night). The suite included a whirlpool tub in the bathroom as well as a Jacuzzi (that lit up at night) on the terrace. This suite was gorgeous, spacious and had everything you could possibly need in it.
All Inclusive is the way to go!
All food and beverages were included in the price we paid for the room (24 hour room service, mini bar, fine dining restaurants and premium beverages. This was shocking to me as the last time I went to an all inclusive resort it didn’t include mini bar items, let alone top shelf beverages.
The food was spectacular. My boyfriend and I are big fans of Mexican cuisine. When I ask him what he wants for dinner 8/10 times his response is black beans and guacamole. We had more orders of chips and guacamole than we can remember. There were plenty of dining options at this property including: 24 hour room service, beach side cafe, swim up bar, fine dining restaurants, and mini bar drinks & snacks replenished daily. We were able to check out two of the three fine dining restaurants and were blown away. Our first night we went to Frida which served Traditional Mexican cuisine. The presentation was great vibrant and colorful and the service was impeccable. I had the most amazing braised short ribs with potatoes and a churro bowl full of ice cream which of course was amazing. We also visited Piaf, which served french cuisine in a very romantic atmosphere. I had the rack of French lamb marinated in Herbs de Provence in a foie gras sauce and for desert I had a Warm Normandy apple tart with goat cheese ice cream. SO GOOD.
A Romantic Massage to remember
The romantic massage was so relaxing and intimte. Upon entering we were taken to separate areas where we were able to get comfy in these cozy robes they provided us with. We were given time to relax and enjoy the whirlpool and a variety of other top of the line spa amenities. Our escort then brought us into the massage room and what felt like heaven commenced. The massage therapists were so sweet and accommodating. They offer aromatherapy massages with your choice of essential oils–I chose Rosemary and Eucalyptus. The scents from the aromatherapy, hot stones, and soothing music made this massage a memorable experience. I have not felt that relaxed & pampered in a VERY long time slash EVER. Once the massage was over the therapists sat us next to each other & made us exchange these red woven bracelets they provided us with as a symbol of our love (how romantic <3). They then escorted us to a very romantic area where they served us champagne and chocolate covered strawberries where we were able to stay as long as we wanted. Five stars! I recommend this package to anyone who visits this property. They also have this package available where you can receive this massage on the beach or on your terrace. These weren’t available to use due to the weather.
Overall this trip exceeded my expectations. From the free upgrade, to the service, we had an amazing time and definitely plan on returning to Puerto Vallarta again!
